Mary Jo Peterman Mary Jo has taught yoga for the following businesses and organizations:
Mary Jo Peterman took her first Hatha Yoga class in 1993 due to the stressful work lifestyle at the fortune 500 company that she worked with for 13 years. She quickly fell in love with the calm, ease, and stress reduction that she began to notice in her body and mind. In 2000 Mary Jo started to increase the meditative and internal practice of Yoga while recovering from Cancer. As a survivor, Mary Jo wanted to share the many benefits she received from her Yoga experience and help others. So, she expanded her personal Yoga practice by starting a Namaste International Yoga Teacher Training 500 hour certification program in 2001. She has completed the 200 hour requirements of this program conducted by Irene and William Beer of Namaste International in Vancouver, Canada and mentored with Namaste USA Yoga Teacher Training program Carol Stall and Vicki Johnson in Dallas Texas. Mary Jo continues to expand her Yoga practice going deeper each year in her yoga instruction and learning. She enjoys discovering the healing aspects of Yoga and incorporates these discoveries into her classes where appropriate. She has a passion for teaching children Yoga and enjoys teaching the whole family. She continues to learn by attending workshops and other Teacher Training programs. She has completed Yoga and Nia workshops, Ashtanga workshop, Yoga Dance, and Yoga for Breast Cancer survivor workshop. She also attends regular classes in Vinyasa yoga and Intermediate Yoga in the Scarvelli and Iyengar methods. She loves to explore in partnership with her students, welcomes suggestions and feedback, and wants students of any age and ability to have fun, relax, and enjoy all aspects of Yoga. Mary Jo encourages students to experience the internal aspects of Yoga: listening and discovering ones body through asana(postures), pranayama (Breath) and quietness, honoring and respecting your body exactly where it is, and gently allowing your body-mind-spirit to grow, expand, and become alive. Mary Jo encourages a personal practice and believes that each individual
is really the "teacher" no matter how small the student is,
and that she is a guide to assist you in finding your internal teacher.
